My name is Molly, and I am in my final year as a student at Northern Michigan University studying Social Media Design Management and German. I am set to graduate from NMU in December 2024. I come from Midland, Michigan. I enjoy reading, writing, fiber arts, photography and learning new things in my free time. 

I started taking journalism classes in my freshman year of high school and immediately fell in love with everything about the field. My favorite stories to write are profiles of everyday people. I love the intimate personal aspect of telling their stories. I am also an avid photographer and digital artist with photojournalism training. 

I currently work as the Digital Anchor at WLUC TV6 & FOX UP, leading the TV6 Digital Desk and growing the station’s digital audience in the evening on our website, social media and streaming platforms. I contribute to TV6's First Look newscast (5 p.m. ET) through the First Look at the Web segment, where I take a look at trending national headlines and headlines from the TV6 social media pages. I also run a daily "Over the Top Content" (OTT) live stream from the TV6 Digital Desk. There, I catch viewers up on headlines from the day. I also work as the Editor-in-Chief of NMU's independent student newspaper The North Wind. In that role, I was tasked by the North Wind Board of Directors with setting the tone of the paper and addressing complaints by sources and readers. I was responsible for hiring, disciplining and firing editorial staff, while serving as a recruiter for editorial positions. I also set long-term goals for news, opinion, features and sports sections while directing the editor desks in day-to-day operations. I lead weekly budget and critique meetings with the full staff to facilitate our publishing needs. I also meet monthly with the North Wind Board of Directors, creating and presenting an editorial update. I write a minimum of one story/editorial per week, including a staff column in regular rotation while working with business staff to stay within budget constraints. 

I worked as the Social Media Editor for the North Wind from January 2022 to December 2023 before being promoted to EIC. I had many responsibilities in this position, mainly publishing stories and content for the North Wind Website and social media sites. With those responsibilities came monitoring site analytics and boosting traffic through SEO modifications. I was also the final eye on stories before they were published. I created and distributed a weekly newsletter, sent to the entire student/faculty body of NMU. I also created a separate weekly newsletter for those who follow the North Wind in the U.P. community. Finally, I completed an overhaul redesign of the website during the summer of 2023. 

I am excited to continue my journey at TV6 & Fox UP as a Digital Anchor after graduation!
